Coast Officials Ask Governor for Fairness in Choosing New MDA Head

Sun Herald: Coast officials ask governor for fairness in choosing new MDA head

South Mississippi lawmakers are circulating a resolution urging new Gov. Phil Bryant to “exercise fairness and parity” for the region with state-backed economic development and infrastructure and when choosing someone to head the state’s economic development agency.

Lawmakers say the Mississippi Development Authority needs to focus more on South Mississippi when it’s trying to lure new industry to the state.

It’s a relatively rare effort for South Mississippi’s legislative delegation — including those from the Hattiesburg area — and local governments to speak with one voice.
